Created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment, the program provides adult community leaders with a general overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of the key community issues and the opportunity to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

Participants complete a nine-month program which includes eight monthly day long sessions that focus on major community systems such as education, health care, human service, heritage, government, justice, labor, business, poverty and diversity.  All sessions provide participants with the opportunity to share relevant learning experiences and to interact with leaders from sectors of the community outside of their own. The program also focuses on leadership training as it pertains to the workplace.

A selection committee composed of Leadership Mahoning Valley alumni will review all applications received.  The committee will choose up to 40 participants for each class year.  Selection criteria include recognized leadership ability in the applicant's field and a demonstrated commitment to community service.  Candidates may fill out an application below and email it or they may be nominated to apply by their employer, an alum of LMV or others in the community.  Every effort is made to ensure each class reflects the diversity of this area's occupations, its racial, religious and ethnic groups, as well as balanced demographic and geographic mix.

The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs including admission fees, program supplies and meals.  Selected applicants will be billed for tuition.  Applications for the class of 2020 will be available in spring 2019.
