Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley identifies, develops, and motivates potential leaders among our youth to address the challenges and celebrate the opportunities of the Mahoning Valley. Participants complete a four-month program which includes an all day retreat and three, monthly, day-long sessions. The program provides opportunities for students to learn about the major systems in the Mahoning Valley and to develop effective working relationships with its leaders.

Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley seeks junior and sophomore students from public, private, and independent high schools in Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. Students will be selected to participate in the junior program and students will be selected to participate in the sophomore program,these are two separate programs, based on their recognized or potential leadership ability. Successful applicants will carefully complete the application expressing their willingness to accept leadership responsibility in their school and community. Every effort will be made to ensure that those selected will represent the diversity of the Mahoning Valley, to ensure this effort we are asking that a maximium of four applicants apply for acceptance per school.

The selection process for each program are based on information completed on an application. Confidential application packets will be mailed to all who are nominated or request an application. APPLICANTS  MUST HAVE THE FULL SUPPORT OF THEIR SCHOOL PRINICIPAL AND PARENTS. 

The junior program for this year starts 9/26/07 with orientation and an all day retreat and ends 1/16/08 with a combined graduation for both programs on 5/14/08. All junior monthly program days take place on Wednesdays.  Acceptance letters for this program will be sent out Mid-August 2007. FULL ATTENDANCE AT THE ALL DAY RETREAT AND ALL MONTHLY SESSIONS IS REQUIRED. The sophomore program starts 1/30/08 with orientation and an all day retreat and ends 4/23/08 with a combined graduation for both programs on 5/14/08.  All monthly sophomore program days take place on Wednesdays.FULL ATTENDANCE AT THE ALL DAY RETREAT AND ALL MONTHLY SESSIONS IS REQUIRED. Request For Application

Applications for the sophomore Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2008 will be available to high school sophomores with leadership potential during the months of October & November with a December 1, 2007 deadline for submittion of applications. 

Tuition of $200 covers all program costs. Applications may be requested by calling (330) 744-2131 x 41, or emailing the LMV office at lmv@leadershipmv.org. The application deadline for junior programs is June 1st.  The application deadline for sophomore programs is December 1st.
